Experience
Spring 2008 to present - Communications Specialist at the LSU AgCenter. Responsibilities include designing various forms of visual communication through animation, illustration, graphic design, and filming and editing video related to a wide variety of topics such as coastal protection, nano-particle delivery systems, microwave beams, cancer research, sustainable housing in coastal environments, and various marketing and promotional applications. I also occasionally teach a graphic design workshop to 4H students, and have given guest lectures on design, drawing, and animation at the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture and at UNO's Midlo Center.
Fall 2006 to present - Filmmaker on the short film Home, which has won several prestigious awards, has been featured in several television broadcasts including the nationally televised documentary series Independent Lens, was included in a Katrina time capsule at Nunez Community College, and has been selected for screening at dozens of film festivals and expositions around the world. Responsibilities included every aspect of designing, creating, marketing, and distributing the film including writing, directing, editing, concept, animation, music clearance, various business negotiations, and publicity such as TV and radio interviews. 2010 to present - Designer and general contractor on several residential house construction and remodel projects. Responsibilities include site design, house design, interior design, creating all construction drawings, and overseeing construction.
2025 to present - Board member and member of the design committee for the Baton Rouge Botanical Garden.
Fall 2016 and Fall 2017 - Sole designer and instructor of LA 7101, a graduate graphic visualization class at the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture. Responsibilities included creating and teaching lessons in traditional drawing, perspective drawing, Photoshop, AutoCAD, 3D Studio MAX, Aftereffects, and the fundamentals of the design process to first year graduates with no background in the subject matter.
2009 to 2015 - Freelance motion graphics designer/animator.
Summer 2007 to Spring 2008 - Research associate for Louisiana Sea Grant at LSU. Responsibilities included writing, editing, and graphic design on reports and designing graphic visualizations (animation and illustration) related to hydrodynamic modeling data and concepts related to coastal protection and restoration in southern Louisiana.
Summer 2006 to Summer 2007 - Graduate assistant at LSU on McKnight Foundation Grant at the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture. Responsibilities included graphic visualization, landscape design, and 3D animation.
Fall 2004 and Spring 2006 - Graduate teaching assistant at the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture. Responsibilities included designing and teaching lessons. Material covered included traditional representation techniques, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Sketchup.
Spring 2002 to Fall 2004 - Full and part time employee at Abbey Associates Inc. Responsibilities included landscape design, development of construction drawing sets, client meetings, graphic design, computer drafting, and production of presentation graphics.
Skills
I specialize in understanding concepts, information, and intended user experiences and then using a refined design process to connect them with the minds and hearts of the intended audience. I’ve applied this process to a variety of fields such as animation, illustration, graphic design, landscape design, and teaching.
Proficient in a variety of software including 3D Studio Max, AutoCAD, and Adobe CS software with a focus on Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects.
Proficient in traditional artistic techniques such as drawing, painting, and sculpting.
Awards
Recipient of numerous honors for the short film Home, including Best Documentary Short - Tribeca Film Festival, Best Documentary Short -Cleveland International Film Festival, Ex Aequo Award - Molise Cinema, Best Experimental - New Orleans Film Festival.
Home was also an official selection for many more festivals including Middle East International Film Festival, Nashville International Film Festival, LA Shorts Fest, and Aspen Shorts Fest.
Recipient of many ACE awards from the Association for Communication Excellence in Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Life Sciences, including 15 ACE awards on 15 submissions from 2021 to 2025 (six Golds, three Silvers, four Bronze, and two Outstanding Professional Skill Awards).
Recipient of a Stinger Award from the Entomological Society of America's video contest.
Two-time recipient of the LSU School of Landscape Architecture Graphic Representation Award.
