As a a licensed landscape architect and licensed horticulturist with a BLA and an MLA, I have a passion for designing spaces that create unique experiences while maximizing the potential of sites. I designed this residential landscape featuring a network three streams and two ponds that capture rainwater from roof runoff and use it to create ephemeral water effects that only happen during rainstorms. I also intentionally challenged myself to build every aspect of the plan on my own specifically to serve as a learning experience.
My site design experience includes residential landscape design and larger recreational site design. My skills in residential design were unexpectedly expanded years ago when we lost our house in a fire, and I found myself with very young, newly homeless children and a very difficult challenge to rebuild their home. So I learned how to build houses and eventually became a licensed contractor. I have since designed and facilitated several house remodels along with the complete construction of residential houses, including the house design and preparation of all construction drawings.
An important part of a landscape design is often the creation of legible and aesthetically appealing explanatory graphics such as this plan view that I did for a residential client.
Below are selections of plan view illustrations of Windrush Gardens in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
